Welcome Fall!

Fall in Iowa is officially here! We celebrated this Sunday by checking out a local apple orchard with some of our friends. We were so impressed with all of the activities they had for the kids. The picture above is of our hayrack ride out to the pumpkin patch and corn maze. As you can see the weather was beautiful!

One of the girls' favorite part of the apple orchard was the "corn pool". It is almost exactly what it sounds like. A "pool" of corn is made by surrounding a foot and a half or so of corn with haystacks. Kids and adults alike can then "swim" in the corn! There are even slides to slide down! The kids had so much fun playing in this. The second picture above is one of my favorites of the day. Olivia, Ava and their friend Catie all holding hands and jumping in. They are like the Three Musketeers!

Other activities that day included a giant potato sack slide, haystack maze, jumping pad and of course a storybook village. Olivia is having tea at the Mad Hatter's Tea Party above.

I can not think of a better way to spend a beautiful fall afternoon. Brian and I remarked that THIS is why we live in the midwest. The changing of the leaves, the sunny days with cool breezes and the smell of caramel apples have made us fall in love again with the midwest.
